This guy boosted his Miata for $500. I have never seen such a high level of ghetto craftsmanship before

Can't tell if smart thinking, or a quick way to blow the engine.

Two 90-degree bends. In what world of engineering does this pass muster? (Go easy on me, I'm an occasional tinkerer, but never a mechanic)

Why can't it be both ?

I never said it couldn't be both, Haha.

I could do without the welded diff...and what's up with the intercooler being behind the radiator?...that's no good, should just straight pipe it in. Otherwise major props.
I put a SC from an Xterra on an NA once with this level of craftsmanship and it never blew in the 10k I had it so I'm guessing he'll be alright as long as he's got his fuel sorted.

I predict hot spots, but probably not hot enough to blow anything fast. Still, probably going to stress crack before its time.
90 degree bends are a flow rate killer, but that's mostly through pressure, and if you've got the pressure to spare...

Yeah that intercooler is dead weight, worse its going to heatsoak off rad and make his inlet temps higher.

Maybe he could redirect the intake.

The manifold is pretty ghetto for sure, but they did it on MCM so it must be ok...

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt (Kinja does like to eat things we point at) and assume you're talking the 2 90s coming right off of the turbo and not what appears to be 2 90s on the end of the intercooler (had to resist calling it a charge air cooler). The intercooler looks molded that way and the 2 90s don't look too bad.
The funny thing is that when you turbocharge something, it will do something. You'll get more power. However, these hack-job turbo setups never get the power they could if they were properly implemented. Like RamblinRover said, the cuffs will drop the pressure but this is just efficiency loss.

You have a welded spider gear assembly.

That tiny turbo probably make like 5 lbs boost at 2k rpm. That is if everything doesn't got hot and all the welds crack and fall apart.
